The meeting of the two midlands wordsmiths was enevitible;
Sonnyjjim was intrigued by the emcee's abstract references, intricate patterns
and thick unmistakable West Bromwich accent.
After tracking him down via mutual mic connect Ruffstylz (who featured on Sleaze's LP)
Sonnyjim soon found out Sleaze himself was familiar with SJ's work and was looking
to collaborate.
A few trips back to the Midlands from Sleaze (now based in Plymouth) and some
no nonsense studio sessions and an EP titled "Work In Mnemonics" was soon complete
and Long Road is the first single from the release.
A stuttery new age boombap number the track sees Sleaze & Sonnyjim venting their various
woes about the music industry and the constant challenge of trying to get a legion of
apathetic rap fans to switch on. Joined by midlands based songstress Nikki Marie the
track is rugged raps with a smooth sung chorous perfectly laced waiting for the radio
outlets to take the bait.
This great single is made even more of a massive bundle by the 3 remixes that accompany it
courtesy of Huddersfields Apatight who turns the track into a no nonsense banger, Plymouth's
Kid Kaos who blends the vocals into a break heavy dance number; Kelakovski's dubstep alter ego
Kealtron (with a guest veature from EATGOOD's RTKAL) and finally Birminghams Tidal with a smooth and soulful deep Drum and Bass treatment.
Long Road is the first single taken from the joint Sleaze & Sonnyjim EP entitled
"Work In Mnemonics" be on the lookout for the EP and the soon to follow HD video coming to
your favourite music video outlet.
